The aircraft may be static, but our museum is not! We offer many opportunities for community and youth education and discovery. Here are Fort Worth Aviation Museum’s signature events, recurring every year.

First Flight Day Celebration – January 14, 2017

Takes place on the 2nd Saturday of January to commemorate the first powered flight in Fort Worth on January 12, 1911. Activities include presentations and activities for young and old at First Flight Park in Fort Worth in the morning, followed by the Wings Award presentation and reception in the afternoon at the museum. Hops and Props – April 29, 2017

The last Saturday in April we hold this aircraft fly in and craft beer festival with, music, food and fun. Airplane rides are also available.  READ MORE

National Aviation Day – August

Alliance Air Show

We are partners in the air show Discovery Zone area that presents multiple opportunities for young and old to learn and discover a variety of aviation related activities and experiences.

BroncoFest XI – November 9-12, 2017

Every two years we hold a reunion and gathering for the North American Rockwell OV-10 community. It is a four day event celebrating all things Bronco and includes an awards dinner to recognize members of the museum staff and OV-10 community for their activities and accomplishments. The next gathering will be in 2017. BroncoFest is open to all interested parties.

Group Gaggle

Every third Saturday of the month we hold an all hands meeting for volunteers and members to learn about current museum developments and upcoming events. Presentations are often given and a free lunch is served.

Parades

We are frequent participants in a variety of parades using our OH-58 Kiowa as a float. Our primary appearances are; Fort Worth’s Veteran’s Day, Gainesville’s Medal of Honor parade and Fort Worth’s holiday Parade of Lights.

During Day 1, “Ground School,” girls will be given an introduction to flight dynamics, parts of airplanes, weather, a tour of the museum, and more.  Day 2 is “Flight School” with a tour of the FAA control tower, flight planning, aircraft pre-flight inspection, and a actual airplane ride.  See the outline below for details.  Limited space avaiable.

On January 12, 1911, the first powered flight took place in Fort Worth, Texas at a spot near today’s Montgomery Plaza.  

Join us to learn about this historic first and more about North Texas’s rich aviation heritage.  The two hour event features historic exhibits, a presentation by Frontiers of Flights director Bruce Bleakley, fun activities, a helium balloon launch, and refreshments.  All FREE!

Join us and celebrate this historic event that changed Fort Worth and North Texas forever.
