Volunteers are the life’s blood of Fort Worth Aviation Museum, and we simply could not operate without our family of volunteers. We have numerous opportunities for anyone who would like to help us on a more active basis than as a member. Many of our volunteers work inside the museum as guides or in the gift shop. Others prefer working on displays, research and collection management. Our maintenance department has the task of performing work on our growing fleet of twenty-one airplanes. Constant work is needed to maintain the appearance of our warbirds. No experience is required, you can work and learn from career aviation maintenance volunteers and have fun doing it. We hold orientation classes three or four times a year. If you would like to attend our next volunteer class, submit your volunteer request here.
Keeping Fort Worth Aviation Museum’s warbirds looking good is a constant battle with the Texas sun and weather. Maintaining and restoring our collection of twenty-one airplanes takes more than volunteers and tools, it takes funding for the various costs associated with acquiring airplanes for display. Most of the expenses are paid for with fund raisers with Affinity Groups like the OV-10 Bronco and F-14 Association or the F-4 Phantom Society or other groups dedicated to one airplane or another. Many of these groups have also held reunions with us to renew friendships and keep their heritages alive through us. If you are a member of an aviation affinity group and would like to help support an airplane, contact us here.
Many of our community’s youth groups have requirements to do Community Service projects. Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, Young Marines and others have assisted Fort Worth Aviation Museum with a variety of one day or two day projects at the air park such as, painting murals, washing airplanes and other projects.
If you are involved with a youth group and would like to lend a hand or do a project for us, submit your “Volunteer for Community Service” request and we will work out a program for your group, including a free museum tour.
If you own or work for a company that provides financial support to community organizations, please consider supporting Fort Worth Aviation Museum or one of our projects. We are an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation chartered for educational and research purposes. We have a variety of projects and programs that need funding to build our museum and keep our great North Texas aviation heritage alive. In return for your support, we can provide numerous marketing opportunities and invitations to special events.
